Description

This one is not my typical watch but it’s oozing with vintage patina!

A 1950’s 18k gold Pre-Heuer Leonidas Triple Date Complex Chronograph with the famed Valjoux 72 movement made famous by the Rolex Daytona and Heuer Carrera that followed it.

This watch has seconds, 30 minute and 12 hour sub dials together with start/stop/reset chronograph and Month, Day and Date calendar functions!!

Leonidas were founded in 1841 and in 1912 were purchased by Constant Jeanneret-Droz. This should therefore have been the reason that Leonidas produced quite outstanding chronograph movements, because Jeanneret-Droz brought the necessary know-how with him. But Leonidas also manufactured instruments used in the automotive and aerospace areas. In 1964 Leonidas Heuer merge. For a long time the watches are sold under the name ‘HEUER LEONIDAS’ but after Heuer became TAG Heuer, the name Leonidas disappeared altogether.

All original, the case and caseback are correctly stamped 18k gold with serial number stamped inside case back also. The Valjoux 72c hand wind movement has its serial number stamped on under side also.

This is a full size watch and has just had a full service so will come with warranty.
