Description

Another watch from my private collection and the best one of these I’ve ever seen in person.

A 1956 British Military issued RAF Omega.

In 1956 the Ministry of Defence (M.O.D.) contracted their watchmakers Southerns to recase 6B/159 class pilot/navigator watches into larger waterproof cases.

The new larger dials were painted gloss black with white arabic numerals and in this watch’s case the original blued hands were covered with lume and the hour plots marked with the same lume dots. ‘Omega’ and the Omega symbol was printed in white.

The cases utilise a screwdown caseback which is engraved with AM for the Air Ministry (RAF), the 6B/159 class code and the issue number and year. They are the last 6B/159 watches issued by the RAF. It has the larger widing crown for easier use

This watch is in stunning condition with unpolished case and solid fixed lug bars.

It came to me from the original RAF owner and had sat in a drawer for 50 years!

The watch was fully serviced and is working correctly.
