Tropical Omega Speedmaster 145.022-69 ST from 1969 and first sold in 1970.
Here we have a gorgeous 69 tropical Omega Speedmaster reference 145.022-69 ST that was first sold in Spain on May 21st 1970.
This iconic moon watch, made in the year of the original moon landing, has a fantastic dark chocolate ‘stepped’ dial that shows it’s brown tones in bright sunshine and with it’s 29,604,xxx serial number falls into a known batch of dials that go brown in colour.
The dial and hands lume are all original and it glows bright under a UV light then dies away quickly as is correct for this period.
The case is fat, full and correct with a brushed finish to the case sides and polished finish to the lug tops and caseback has the original hippocampus engraving still clear on the outside and 145022-69 ST engraved on the inner.
The watch also benefits from a really nice original DON bezel (dot over ninety) as is correct for the reference 145022-69.
The watch has recently had a £700 full mechanical service and is guaranteed until August 2024. The crown and pushers were replaced at service to ensure it met current standards and passed a pressure test. The original crown and pushers are included with all the paperwork in the sale.
The watch has an original Extract of The Archives certificate from the Omega Museum in Bienne, Switzerland confirming the correct movement number and all details of the watch.
The watch will come on its original fully refurbished 1039/516 (3.70) folded link bracelet.
An extremely nice 1969/1970 Omega Speedmaster from the year of the moon landing with lovely stepped dark chocolate dial, DON bezel and fully serviced.
