Here we have a rare 1953 British Military Issued Omega 6B/542 reference 2777-1 RAF Watch for sale.
These watches were issued to the British Military by Omega and built to the Military of Defence’s DEF-3 specifications of the time.
The ’53 Omega was manufactured with a stainless steel brushed case with fixed lug bars, ‘thin arrow’ luminous hands with luminous dial markings, a 17 jewel, 30 mm, 283 calibre movement which featured shock-protection and non-magnetic components.
The military markings on the caseback are as follows:-
This watch has a stunning original dial and hands with original lume and is in really beautiful condition. It has the correct and original 13.0m serial number movement which benefits from a recent movement service and still retains the rare case ‘doohickey’ that is often lost.
The case has had it’s fixed bars removed at some point in its history from the inside and replaced with spring bars but this means externally it looks exactly the same as it would with the bars still present but now allows you more strap options. It could now be worn on any strap of your choice – nato, leather etc
