Rare Mk1 Omega Flightmaster 145.013 Tropical Brown

Here we have this stunning rare Mk1 Omega Flightmaster 145.013 with killer tropical brown dial!

This first generation Omega Flightmaster was designed in 1969 specifically for pilots to be able to tell the time in different time zones utilising a separate blue hour hand and also came with ‘special order’ yellow chronograph hands for where aircraft cockpits were lit with infra red lighting.

With the unique caliber 910 movement this first generation Flightmaster has a 24 hour day/night subdial at the 9 o’clock position in half green. It was produced for only a very short run before the mk2 with caliber 911 Flightmaster was launched for the 70’s.

Omega cases of the late 60’s and 70’s were certainly ground breaking in their designs and the Flightmaster is no different. The stainless steel case was pressed and tempered 16 times before it takes the unique elliptical shape designed perfectly to fit the contours of the wrist. The Mk1 case is a little smaller with flatter than the Mk2 Flightmaster. So with a domed mineral crystal and hidden lugs sitting on an original 1159 Omega logo clasp bracelet, it wears very comfortably.

This watch has a beautiful tropical brown dial where the subdials, that were originally black, have turned a lovely chocolate brown and the main dial having a lovely matching aged patina. The case on this watch, with the famed early ‘starburst’ finish, is in excellent condition and with a mint domed crystal and recent service the watch is keeping perfect time and all chronograph settings are working as they should.

Mk1 Flightmasters are rare watches at the best of times. Finding one today with a lovely tropical brown dial and a killer case like this is almost impossible.

No box or papers but will come delivered in an original Omega foam zipped carry pouch.
