Very Rare Military Issued 1964 Omega Seamaster 30 PAF

Here we have a very rare military issued Omega Seamaster from 1964.

These watches were specifically ordered through Omega by the Pakistan Air Force in the early 1960’s and feature a special Omega Seamaster 30 military dial with tritium lume hour markers on a 3/6/9/12 black dial with wide baton hands.

The Pakistan Air Force, or PAF as it is known, was formed in 1947 and has had a large and mobile aircraft fleet ever since. Today it is still the 8^th largest aircraft fleet in the world and has been involved in numerous war’s and mission support since it’s inception.

It is likely that these early 1960’s issued watches certainly saw military action and were involved in some of the most intense air combat seen during any wars post 1945. The India – Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971 were very heavily aircraft and air combat focussed with 1000s of deployment sorties being flown in each war and a number of planes destroyed on both sides in the air and on the ground.

This watch was issued to the PAF on the 19^th March 1964 and has the correct “PAF” engraving to the case back together with the correct movement number engraving below that matches the manual winding calibre 286 movement inside.

More importantly the watch comes with official Omega confirmation paperwork from the Omega Museum in Bienne, Switzerland, confirming that this was a Military issued watch to the Pakistan Air Force and engraved as such.

The watch itself is in excellent overall condition, as can be seen from the photographs, with lovely aged dial and case patina and has just had a full mechanical service so is keeping very good time and winds nicely. At 37mm including crown it also wears really well and a little bigger than it’s size suggests, being mainly all dial with only a very thin bezel. The watch will come on a new nato strap and with the Omega Archive supporting paperwork.
