Here we have a fantastic British Military issued Lemania chronograph originally from the early 1960’s. You can see from the caseback that the watch has the British Admiralty military engravings 0552/920-3305 meaning this was a Royal Navy issued watch that went to the Fleet Air Arm division. The number below this is the individual issue number.
As with all these watches they were redialled by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the 1960’s to replace the radium lume and as you can see by the circled T on the dial this one has the correct tritium that has aged to a beautiful light brown tone.
The dial is in wonderful clean original condition with no marks and a lovely black tone. It has the military applied ‘fat arrow’ to the lower of the dial and two sub chrono dials that work and reset as they should. The serviced Lemania 17 jewelled calibre 15CHT gilded movement with column wheel chronograph is in lovely clean condition and keeping good time.
The case is full and appears unpolished still having its brushed look to the sides and the watch retains it’s original crystal, crown and pusher.
These are good size watches for their age with a 37mm diameter, 45mm lug to lugs and 12mm deep case so wear well and this one really suits the light grey ribbed nato style strap that it comes on.
This is a really lovely piece and it’s getting hard to find Lemania military chronographs in this condition now. Would look good in anyone’s collection and certainly on their wrist!
