Here we have one of the rarest and earliest of the Rolex 1675 GMT Master with a 504,XXX serial numbered case from the start of 1960.
The early pointed crown guard case models of both the GMT Master and Submariner are highly collectible and sought out by serious collectors as they were produced for such a very small time period.
This early 500k serial Rolex GMT Master watch is an early 1960 Rolex with the correct small GMT 1675 hand, pointed crown guards, 1.60 stamped inner case back and vintage Rolex gilt closed ‘track’ or ‘chapter ring’ dial.
The case is strong and fat, bezel is sharp, pointed crown guards are fat and comes with original early crown and a later faded bezel insert.
The dial on this watch is a stunning dark chocolate in tone that changes to a lighter milk chocolate brown colour in direct sunlight. The lacquer on this gilt dial is free from cracking and scratches so the dial still has it’s reflective mirror like qualities with deep gold print. The lume is very good with typical malteser texture and only the tiniest pin prick of lume loss on the 9 marker that you can not really see on your wrist but can with a loupe.
Rolex Gilt GMT’s are one of my favourite watches as they are so versatile in being able to change their look completely to suit your requirements or tastes. No other Rolex sports watch offers this versatility in my opinion and it means you can change the look of your watch with genuine parts in minutes.
This watch can come on a dark brown leather strap, jubilee bracelet and with a faded blue/red insert, a non faded new service insert or an all black insert.
