The much sought after Rolex Red Submariner – and this one an early metres first variant.

This Rolex 1680 has been my daily wearer for quite some time now, but its time to move on as I’ve added something else to the collection that is winning in the wrist time stakes!

An all genuine and extremely rare mk2 Submariner 1680 dial – the ‘metres first’ red submariner. The Rolex red subs are one of the most desirable watches for vintage rolex collectors and metres first dials are seen few and far between.

Indeed only 6% of all red submariner dials were mk2 metres first and many were changed by Rolex to newer service dials at service. Obviously this makes this one of the rarest date submariners available.

Vintage Rolex Red Submariner 1680 For Sale from 1969

Dial & Hands: Lovely red writing Rolex 1680 Submariner metres first mark 2 dial with matching yellow tone tritium hands and markers.

Case & Caseback: 2.28m serial with all numbers clear between the lugs. Rolex caseback is correctly stamped 1680 and III69 dating the watch to 3rd quarter of 1969, as it should be for a mk2 metres first dial and the insert is the correct fat font type with later pearl/pip.

Bracelet: Available on the later Rolex Oyster 93150 bracelet with correct Rolex 580 end pieces as shown in the pictures or a correct early Rolex 9315 folded bracelet.

Movement: Original serviced 1575 Rolex date movement in excellent condition.

Box & Papers: This watch was given a full mechanical service by my watchmaker and comes with a Rolex service box.
